HATE CRIMES

"a crime, typically one involving violence, that is motivated by prejudice on the basis of ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or similar grounds"

Update 2025:

309 reported cases of hate, violence, and discrimination in 2024 – almost every day in Switzerland, someone is attacked, insulted, or marginalized because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. The hate crime figures from the LGBTIQ Helpline analysis are shocking – and yet only the tip of the iceberg. The attacks range from verbal harassment and physical violence to sexual assault. Two out of three victims report suffering psychological consequences. These attacks occur particularly frequently on the street, on public transport, and online. And most of those affected are young – particularly often between 20 and 30 years old.
